Online Learning Styles Survey

Is Online Learning for Me?

Goals:

Let's Talk:

Have you ever stopped to think which type of learning style is best for you? There are three main learning styles:

  1. visual (by reading)
If you are a visual learner, you generally learn quickly from books, film, charts, graphs, and anything you can see.
  2. auditory (by listening & speaking)
If you are an auditory learner, you generally learn quickly from audio tapes, lectures, and anything you can hear.
  3. tactile/kinesthetic (by doing --- hands on).
If you are kinesthetic or a tactile learner, you generally learn quickly from taking notes and rewriting them, performing tasks hands-on, and “doing” things.

Most people tend to fit into one of these categories, and some learn best by a combination. The 'speaking and doing' components are what we call 'active' learning styles, and contribute to the most permanent type of learning. Stop for a moment and consider where you best fit.

The projects and activities created by your instructor will provide many opportunities to become much more active in the process of learning.

It is important to understand that although reading and listening are the key methods of content delivery in an online class, learning through a combination of ways (especially speaking and doing) will improve your overall success.

The following short survey will help to analyze your ability to succeed in taking an online class.  Your responses will give you an idea if an online class would fit into your daily routine and match your type of personality and learning style(s).
