Many activities involve the use of spreadsheets. A spreadsheet is an excellent tool for displaying tables of data and charts and graphs. The typical filetype is .xls and can be viewed with Microsoft Excel or a compatible spreadsheet.

One common problem is that most spreadsheets use Macros and it is important that your spreadsheet is set up to allow Macro's to be read. Many antivirus checkers erroneously pop up an error message, so just ignore them.

Our test example is a spreadsheet called Amortization. It is used for calculating interest when borrowing or lending money. It uses macro's to make it work automatically.

If your spreadsheet did not open up automatically, or you don't want to keep answering the question "Do you want to enable Macro's", then do the following:

1. Begin by opening Excel and selecting <Tools>, then <Macro>

2. Next, select Security Level and 'Check' the box that states "Low (not recommended)." Guaranteed, it is safe. If you do not do so, then many incredible spreadsheets will fail to work.
