4 Steps to Essay Writing (and a Grading Rubric)

4-steps to Essay Writing (and Rubric)

Four Steps for Writing a Short Essay:
  1. Using a word processor or presentation tool (like Microsoft Word or Powerpoint), develop a structured paper (introduce, develop, conclude) as follows:

    • Clearly define at least three main points/topics in the introduction (opening paragraph).
    • Thoroughly develop each of the three topics, and be sure to cite your online references (web addresses) so I can go back and see where you got your information from.
    • Summarize the key points in your concluding paragraph.

  2. Be sure not to illegally copy (plagarize) anyone elses information, but you may use "quotes" and cite the web address when appropriate. This applies to pictures/images as well as text.

  3. Provide illustrations when appropriate.

  4. Be sure to explain things simply (so grandma can understand)!
